hello guys,
I created in ansys geometry & meshing the case you see in the pictures. As you can see there are a lot of solid-liquid interfaces, 384 to be exact. Every solid-liquid interface exist out of at least two surfaces which I named solid-to-liquid and liquid-to-solid which need to be coupled. When I loaded the mesh into fluent, it created 384 solid-to-liquid-src surfaces and 384 liquid-to-solid-trg surfaces. To make setting up the case and post processing easier I want to merge all the src surfaces and trg surfaces together into just two regions but while I manage to merge all liquid-to-solid-trg surfaces into a single region, if I try the same with the solid-to-liquid-src surfaces I get an error: unable to merge selected threads. Do any of you have an idea what could have caused this problem and how to solve it?

is it critical to have interfaces in your case?
Usually, people create the mesh in other way. All zones are put in one part. In that case Fluent will create coupled BC automatically
(if you are using ansys meshee, put all solids into one part)

best regards

Heey Allexander, thanks for your reply. A friend of mine just suggested the exact same thing as you. I myself solved it by merging all contact regions in ansys meshing into 1 contact region but I think your way is easier.
