Hello!
I am working on modeling of fouling in heat exchangers, I use DPM model in fluent, but I face a problem, when I activate the thermophoretic model to take in consideration the effect of thermophoresis forces on particle trajectories, fluent generate an error "Error: received a fatal signal (Segmentation fault). Error Object: #f", I am searching for the sources of this problem and I found that it is in relation with UDF but I am not using any UDF in my simulation!! Could anyone please help me and telling me how to fixe this problem? should i creat a UDF for insert the effect of thermophoretic forces or it s just working when i will enable it in physical models options ? Best regards. |

Segmentation fault means Fluent tried to call a variable that doesn't exist. This often happens when you call for a variable defined in a udf that doesn't yet exist for whatever reason.
But it can also happen, when you turn on your model without the proper variables initialized. I'm not sure of the steps you have to do before activating the DPM model, but make sure you have done the steps properly. |

i am trying to simulate the fouling inside a pipe through it air is flowing in steady state as a continuous phase and anthracite as the discret phase.
Energy model is on viscous model K-epsilon discrete phasen the boundary conditions of the continious phase are: inlet: velocity inlet, Tin=350K wall: no slip wall and,Tw= 450K outletutflow i choose one way coupling between the contiuous phase and discrete phase. I also created an injection with this following option: injection type: surface-inlet particle type: inert so when i activate the thermophoretic model i face this problem, is there a mistake in the steps i already mention ? please help ! |
