aerofreak1551 is on a distinguished road
Hello,

I am analyzing a curved plate geometry and was wondering about the boundary condition setup in Fluent.

I made a pressure outlet and a velocity inlet, but I'm a little confused about the rest of the walls except for the geometry. I do not want to see flow developing on these walls, would setting them to zero shear walls be correct?

Also is a zero shear wall practically the same as symmetry?

Zero shear can work, but you probably need to do a sensitivity study if this is important to you. Having a wall there constrains the flow. You should also consider using a pressure outlet boundary or farfield pressure boundary condition, etc.

If you are talking only about velocity then yes. But remember you can have zero-shear wall at a different temperature or zero-shear wall with species being transported across and so on.
