Hello all,
Just finished installing Fluent 13 on a CentOS7 (VirtualBox). The license is for use on a single machine and tied in to MAC address / Host name. The license is a text (.txt) file, (single-user license). The issue I am having is when I run fluent, it cannot find the license file. ----- Cannot find license file. The license files (or license server system network addresses) attempted are listed below. Use LM_LICENSE_FILE to use a different license file, or contact your software provider for a license file. Feature: fluent Filename: /ansys_inc/v130/fluent/license/lnamd64/../license.dat License Path: /ansys_inc/v130/fluent/license/lnamd64/../license.dat FLEXnet Licensing error: -1,359. System Error: 2 "No such file or directory" ---- My question is, what is the correct procedure to have the Fluent software recognize that I have an legitimate license, and in what directory should it be placed and/or what utility is used to import it, and where can it be found? Many thanks in advance. Cheers ! Yasir |

Did you install the license manager? It is a separate program. If you only installed Fluent and forgot to also install the license manager, then it makes sense.
You don't have to put the license file anywhere per se. When you setup the license server, you read in the license file and the entire contents of this license file is duplicated into the server's directory. Of course when you install the Fluent client side license utility, you have to specify the hostname of the license server (which may be a different machine). Well you can read the error. Yes that is the right place to read in the license file. But I don't know why you have a Fluent only license file. Is it a flex license? It's been almost a decade since I've seen one of those.

The issue was resolved by installing the old licensing version of the Fluent licensing program FSLM 10.8, and running the "lmgrd" license service. This alone will still not launch Fluent until..........
environment variables are added in the Fluent Launcher to point to the licensing service: echo “export FLUENTLM_LICENSE_FILE=\”xxxx@localhost\”” >> ~/.bashrc echo “export LM_LICENSE_FILE=\”xxxx@localhost\”” >> ~/.bashrc) Cheers ! Yasir |
