Hello everyone, I'm a student and I started Fluent 2 months ago, self taught.
I have to simulate a laser interacting with a metal (diffuse and specular reflection, absorption, heating, melting) in a 2D case. So far I managed to simulate a laser going through an air medium, hitting a semi-transparent wall (which reflects the laser diffusely and specularly) and I have a metal medium (by default fluid material : aluminium-solid) behind the semi-transparent wall where the heat is absorbed and the melting occurs after some time. Here is where I'm stuck : First look at the illustration to see my problem and maybe appreciate my drawing skills. I want to heat (with the laser beam) the metal (Fluid material : aluminium-solid), then melt it and see the metal flow on the horizontal wall under because of the gravity. My guess is to add the VOF model for the metal flow (I already use the DO model + melting/solidification). From the VOF tutorials I've seen, the boundary between the air and the metal should be defined as 'interior' (but then I don't have the reflections). But I also I want to simulate the reflections that I only managed to see using a semi-transparent wall (but then the melted metal can't flow down). I don't know if it's possible to do what I want, I haven't been able to find something similar online yet, but I won't stop looking until I have an answer. I look forward to your answers, as short as they might be. And also, this is not the final model that I have to do but this is a big step stone that I have to master before going further.
