Hi all,

I am trying to simulate a transient analysis of a compressing cylindrical domain with droplets being injected from a point source at the outlet in fluent 17.1. The simulation is 3D, transient, with gravity, k-e model, species enabled and dpm model.
All the boundary conditions are walls with a fixed temperature of 298 K. The inlet is given as a moving boundary condition through a udf which compresses the internal domain. This increases the pressure and temperature in the domain.

The species model is enabled with a mixture template with h20, o2, n2 as species. This is further used in the dpm model with a coupled heat-mass solution for droplets. While running this simulation I get an Error at Node 0: Invalid cp (0.000000e+00 J/kgK) for mixture-template at temperature 1 . Which is only present when the droplet injection is added to the case file. When the same case is run without any droplet injection or air mixture domain, no errors occur and the simulation results are acceptable.

Any suggestions to solve the error are welcome.

Thank you

A few quick thoughts,
1) Did you check the specific heat (cp) values for all your materials in the mixture to make sure they're reasonable? I'm guessing that when you set the droplet injection it creates a new particle material, you might want to make sure that you didn't accidentally set the specific heat to zero.
2) I think Fluent will do this automatically, but do you have the Energy model enabled?

Normally, there is something wrong of your setting for model, check it.
