I just want to take a chosen surface and have it generate 5W. All I can see in the thermal boundary condition settings are heat fluxes (W/m^2) and heat generation rates (W/m^3, how that makes sense on a 2D boundary I do not know), or a set temperature (K). I see energy source terms (W/m^3) under cell zone conditions, but again, not what I'm after. How do I just apply 5W to a boundary so it is not dependent on the area of the boundary or volume of a region? I checked the settings for boundaries of both solid and fluid volumes with the same result.

This was totally straightforward in STAR!

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Realizable k-epsilon with enhanced wall treatment, energy turned on, added some materials but otherwise all default settings.

Also, is there no way to multi-select and change the material of multiple cell zones at once? I seriously have to edit each individual part of my model to set its material type one at a time?

AS you mentioned heat flux/source are dependent on the area of the boundary or volume of a region. So you need to divide 5W on the area and apply this value to the boundary [in W/m2].

You may copy all settings from one zone to other using "COPY..."
(setup -> cell zone conditions -> copy.. -> select source zone (left column) than zone you want to modify(right column)

Best regards

Thanks for that. Confirmed by ANSYS tech support, there is no way to apply a non area/volume-dependent heat source. Ridiculous! If your area changes in, say, a parametric study, you will be constantly chasing after this! Like I said, totally a non-issue in STAR-CCM+.
