Hi friends,

I want to model a combustion chamber using partially premixed flamelet generated manifold (FGM) model, but when I select the FGM model, the boundary and control tabs of the species model dialog box will be disabled.
Please see the attached picture.

Please help me if you can.

Thanks a lot.

This happens when you load a case already running FGM and already with pdf tables. It reads the pdf table and skips the flamelets which are not needed anymore.

Are you trying to change the flamelet?

Reimport the chemical mechanisms and you should be able to create new flamelets and pdf tables.

Thank you LuckyTran for your answer,

but I read a .msh file and there exist no FGM and pdf tables previously.

considered models:

Energy: on

Viscous: SST - K-omega with "Low Reynolds Corrections" and "curvature corrections" options.

Radiation model: DO

ANSYS Version: 17.0

Did you import the chemkin mechanism?

NO, is it necessary for FGM model?

If yes, would you please send a chemkin file including CH4 with Air combustion with 0.75 Equivalence ratio?
I don't know chemkin programming.

You have many choices, from simple single-step reactions to multi-step reactions. For methane-air, these reduced models are rather in abundance.

I would recommend however, you to look at the Grimech 3.0 mechanisms, which is a natural gas in air. It is pre-packaged in Fluent somewhere. I forget the exact location. Look for a file called grimech30_50.spec and so on. In principle you could take the full GRIMECH 3.0 which is available on the web, but there are limitations in Fluent that forces you to use a subset.

You are getting ready to run a reacting LES without understanding how the model works or even what it needs to work... To me this is reckless & I suggest you slow down and study the beast you are about to release.

I can not find the answer to my questions in your comment.

1. How can I enable the boundary, control and flamelet tabs in FGM model.
2. Is it necessary to import the CHEMKIN file? Because I know that it is possible to use the single or two-step mechanisms instead for the FGM model.
3. Is there a link to direct download the CHEMKIN file of CH4-Air (Equivalence ratio=0.75)? Because the target of this step is to run the FGM model.
