Hi all,
I am working on flow simulation around a cylinder in 2D case as a very simple case for the recent weeks but was not able to get accurate drag coefficient from the Fluent turbulent solvers yet! My goal is to validate the results of FLUENT where I set a constant velocity at inlet, symmetry B.C at top/bottom and outflow or outlet-vent for the outlet. I directly get C_D from the solver and make an average of the results and I set the correct reference values. But the problem is that for the case of Re~1e4-1e6 the value of mean C_D has at least 15 % error, should mention that before that Re the error is reasonable. I have tried different RANS solvers in Fluent like Spalart-Allmars, k-epsilon, k-omega, and transition models. Y+ is lower that 1 for Spalart-Allmars and around 1-2 for other RANS models. I use inflation around cylinder and tetrahedron mesh for the fluid domain. Could anyone give me an idea where I might have problem in or which RANS solver is more accurate to extract drag coefficient in FLUENT? Any help is appreciated! Thanks |
