Is Fluent any good while trying to solve solidification problems? It gives neat results while solving for flow but it doesn't seem to give good results while solving flow, energy, species equation for solidification problem. I am finding great difficulty in replicating the papers on which the solidification solver in fluent is based on.

Finally, is it advisable to write your own code from scratch rather than using fluent for solving solidification problems? especially one with alloy solidification.
