Hello,
I am trying to run analysis in Workbench and I have no problem getting through geometry and mesh. However when I get to the Fluent part of the analysis I receive this error: Unable to connect to external socket: Error during socket creation Opening output file:"SolutionResult.xml" Then everything freezes and the program shuts down. The only solution I have been able to find involves VMware, I am not aware of how to tell or modify that on my computer. I am running on Windows 10 on an HP computer. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated |

VMWare is the name of a software that runs virtual machines. It let's you install a virtual computer inside your computer. I.e. people use it to run a Windows system inside a Unix system and vice versa or sometimes a different windows inside windows. You are probably not using VMWare.
The socket creation failure is a communication error between the client (you) and the host. Two cases are important. Depending on your licensing setup, the server could be you or a different computer that has the license server. Where is your license server? If you are running in parallel, the mpi also establishes a host node and worker nodes. So make sure you are running in serial for debugging. This error is common when Wi-Fi is involved. As you connect and disconnect from the wi-fi, your system switches back n' forth from using certain Wi-Fi ports and local ports. The license server wants to use ports from when it is started (i.e. when you turn on the computer) but throughout the day you jump onto and off a wi-fi network and your client wants to use different ports. When these ports don't match up, they get mad. It can also happen if you are using any VPN's. |

In my case the problem was, that I was using LAN-cable.
I disconected it (in other words, turn back to WiFi) and it worked. Unbelievable! |
