Y plus value

Hello
I am using k-omega turbulence model in Fluent solver. So corresponding to this model what value for Y plus I should fix? Or first I should fix Y plus value and corresponding to this Y plus, I should choose some turbulence model? Thanks Sent from my C2004 using CFD Online Forum mobile app |

Part of the answer to your question is determined by what type of flow you are simulating and what your computational resources are. Is it internal or external flow?
For internal flow you can resolve down to y+~1 without wall modeling. but for external flow you'll probably want to resolve to y+~20 with wall modeling on. You may have to iterate between your flow solution and your mesh to achieve the desired y+ This is only a partial answer to your question, and Im sure someone else can help you more. |

Thanks for your response.
Now I have fixed my Y PLUS as 0.8 (because it's internal flow). And corresponding to this Y PLUS, my boundary layer thickness comes out 0.000021m. Now after converging the solution when I check Y PLUS value from solution > reports > area-weighted average >turbulence >Y Fflint PLUS, my value comes out 0.47 which is different from what i had considered at starting that was 0.8. Why here is this difference? Or I am doing wrongly? Sent from my C2004 using CFD Online Forum mobile app |
