Hi,
I'm trying to simulate the air inlet through a small hole. The domain is 3D. I made a meshing by parts, with small cells near the inlet. I have used double precision, and second order discretization. According to the data, the gas flow is incompressible, then I assume constant density. For the turbulence model, I am using the k-e realizable.

In order to validate the mesh, I simulated for different meshes. In one of the attached figures, I plot the pressure drop vs. the number of elements in the mesh.
When I saw that figure, I thought my mesh was validated. However, later I decided to adapt the validated mesh (velocity gradient), and got a pressure drop of about 200 Pa.
I need help to interpret this result: my mesh is not validated?

I appreciate the comments!

Hi, fist thing - are the sides of your domain supposed to be walls, or do you intend to simulate a free jet? I assume you considered domain-size independence? Just saying.. you definitely have interaction with your BC on the sides.
Telling from the number of elements, in my experience you should have reached a mesh-independent solution but that's vague.. Maybe it is more of a problem how you refined in your last step? what does your mesh look like before and after?
