mass inbalance despite good looking residuals

Hi everybody,
I am simulating an air flow in a circular periodic geometry. The model has 3 inlets and 1 outlet. I am using a mass flow profile at the inlets. As the flow should be considered as compressible near the inlets, I am using the density-based solver. I set a constant wall temperature as heat transfer through the walls shouldnt be simulated. My problem is, that all my residuals lowered to a range of 10^-6 to 10^-7, but still my mass imbalance is far away from being 1% of the smallest mass flow. In fact it is between 50 and 1000 % of the smallest inlet. I am using EWT and my Y+ are in between 1 and 3, in regions of the inlets, I have 10 boundary layers, at the outlet there are 5 BL. Could you tell, where I have to search the problem? Really would appreciate some good advices! All the best, Chri Last edited by chri; May 31, 2016 at 06:10. |
