how to generate shock waves for an airfoil in cfd?

You just run the CFD. The shockwaves are a result of the solution of the flow field. Just make sure you are using an appropriate equation of state (like ideal gas equation of state).
Later, you will need a fine mesh around the shockwave to make it look nice and you might have to iterate your grid or do some adaptive meshing but you can worry this after you've done your first CFD. |
