I'm working on simulation of multiphase bubble flow inside a column partially filled with water with air being bubbled through it as shown in the figure.
After creating the geometry in Gambit 2.4, I assign the Air-water interface as 'Interface' boundary condition. On exporting it to mesh, it shows no error. But when I run the mesh in Fluent 6.3, during Grid Check, it displays WARNING : UNASSIGNED INTERFACE ZONE DETECTED FOR INTERFACE 6. .........WARNING : GRID CHECK FAILED. Later while assigning BCs by Define > Boundary Conditions, I find there are no options available for interface at all. And when I try to initialize, I get - ERROR: INIT_FLOW : UNASSIGNED INTERFACE_ZONES.......ERROR: OBJECT: (). Please please please help me out as of what I'm doing wrong. Is there any other way by which I can demarcate the top air part from the bottom liquid part ? Thanks in advance |

Hi,
this is a VOF simulation; you don't need to define a boundary condition "interface" for the water air interface. You can define 2 fluid regions, named water and air for example, or you can define one fluid region and patch the secondary phase region in fluent.
