Remeshing issue due to solid contact

Hello everybody,
I am trying to simulate the oscillation of a plate in a casing. The movement of the oscillating plate is driven by a UDF. And I want to have no leakage between each side of the plate. In order to do so, I am trying to remesh correctly the region where there is a contact between my plate and my porous region – just near my casing. But I am struggling with the remeshing due to the contact between my disk and my porous media. The mesh is moving, but no points, and then no new triangular cells are created on the “line” between my 2 zones (see picture 2 and 3 attached). As you can see the problem of the mesh is that no points are created on the “interface” between my porous mesh parts (on the left) and my fluid mesh part (right), leading to very bad quality mesh, and from a certain point, to a negative volume cell. So I would like to know if someone can advise me about this problem, how to deal with the “line” to have a good remeshing? My technical remeshing set up is: -Smoothing with Spring/Laplace method: Spring Constant factor: 0.5, Convergence Tolerance: 0.0001, Number of iterations: 150. Moreover, Elements are Tri in Tri Zones (mesh only tri) and the Laplace Node Relaxation is set to 1. -Remeshing: I use Local Cell with Local Face and Region Face remeshing, I used typically a length scale min and max respectively bigger and smaller than the default one, to have a good remeshing. Maximum cell Skewness and Face skewness are set to 0.7, and the size remeshing interval is set to 1. My Dynamic Mesh zones are: - My plate, which is a rigid body driven by a UDF. - My Porous parts which is deforming (to allow the mesh to deform) – Smoothing & Remeshing – Region and Local. Thank you in advance. Regards Jeremy |

Anybody for a small advice?
I just would like to know what kind of settings are required to allow the sweeping of my plate (or disc) along a wall? Thank you in advance. Jeremy |

You can change the maximum skewness from 0.7 to 0.65. Play with the maximum and minimum scale lengths in the section "remeshing". maximum scale length = 1.4 * nominal in mesh scale info or less than nominal (reference) minimum scale length = 0.4 * nominal in mesh scale info or more than nominal (reference) Spring Constant factor: 0.9 Laplace node: 1 Number of iterations: 20...40 Last edited by Ingodwetrast; October 17, 2018 at 08:39. |

can be used to deforming by cylinder. over the plate zone layering. and then use sliding interface.

Maximum Length Scale = 0.4 X Average length scale of fluid-ch.
Minimum Length Scale = 1.4 X Average length scale |
