2D turbulent flow around Bluff Body convergence issues

Hello,
I am currently running a 2D transient simulation of turbulent flow over 2 inline bluff bodies. I am using realizeable k-e method, and dynamic mesh smoothing. I have a structured grid which I believe to be adequate for my model but when I am running my simulation for 100 time steps and I am seeing some odd things with my residuals. The energy will drop quickly to about 1e-16 but the x and y settle down to 1e-3 and don't go any lower. The continuity will go no lower than 1e-2 and will spike every timestep before settling down as the iterations continue. The flow behaves the way experimental data has shown it to I am just unsure as what the best way to go about improving these residuals would be (specifically the continuity). I checked the residual contours and I see a large mass imbalance on my outlet boundary. Could this be part of the issue? Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
