Hi All,

I was just wondering whether I can do multiphase simulation using DQMOM for three particle size distributions (3 phases) along with 2 phases. It shows totally five phases. I am not sure whether the recent version of fluent has the capability of handling more than 4 phases. Could anyone please advice me. Even I was trying to setup the model, It shows the error message of
PB' s Sauter_d: case not handled.
So i was just wondering whether something is wrong with model setup or fluent multiphase limitation for DQMOM.
Thanks

Regards

What version of fluent do you have?

Our institution has both 14.0 and 15.0 version

If I am not wrong there is a limitation especially if you are using the discrete setup. You can have bins for only one secondary phase. However if you switch to the inhomogeneous setup you can have bins for more than one secondary phases.

I am no expert with the population balance but hope this helps.

Dear Vasava,

Thanks for reply. I am using Eulerian with population balance model. I think I may not able to use the option that you have mentioned. Is that correct.

I think you can use all the options with Eulerian multiphase setup.

Dear Vasava,

I would be grateful to you if you could the explain to me in detail about setup.
Mean time, I have checked DQMOM restriction in fluent manual. It is mentioned that "The DQMOM method is restricted to a four-phase system, of which three secondary phases are directly involved in the DQMOM computation".
It seems it is difficult to setup the model.

Actually in my problem, I have sand, fluidisation gas and biomass (DQMOM phase- 3 sizes), so totally 5 phases. I am still wondering to implement this problem in fluent.

I would be grateful to you if you could explain the model setup

Thanks in advance

Dear pannsave,
I am writing to ask you if the DQMOM can be used to deal with the 5-phases?
Thank you.
