Hello,
My case is very simple and straight forward. I Have a can (Cylinder) in 3D that is rotating filled with soda and I want to plot the velocity distribution inside the can. I have 2 Names selections: Wall and Top Wall (Shown in the figure below) The problem is: In Boundary Conditions, I am putting both Wall and Top Wall Rotating (for the same Rotating-Axis Direction and same angular speed). And I have wrong results. I think fluent didn't understand what I want, which is a simple cylinder rotating around its fixed axis. Any help? Thanks a lot |

Hi,
Can you elaborate in what way your results are wrong? |

Moreover I think that you should setup a single reference frame or moving mesh simulation..but you should obtain correct/similar results by assigning only rotational velocity to walls. Check your bc carefully!

Thanks a lot guys.
Ghost 82, a big thanks. I need your help please since you did the same simulation; My problem description now is: 0) Rotating can (diameter=6.6 cm; height=0.2 cm; angular velocity=10 rad/s) 1) Steady, Energy Equation Off (Just want to plot the velocity); 2) I'm using in the BC the following:Rotational Walls (with angular speed = 10),and the Rotational Top Wall.Origin axis (0 0 0) and Direction axis (1 0 0) for Wall and Top Wall; 3) In the Cell Zone Condition: I selected the material inside the can which is soda, and The Mesh and frame Motion always not checked. 4) Velocity Initialization with V(z)= 0.33 m/s 5) First when I selected calculate, it rapidly finish the calculation (Almost 2 seconds) which I am sure that this is wrong. Plus on the Line (shown in Fig. below), the velocity distribution is always equal to 0.33 m/s. But on the face of the Wall I have the right distribution for the Velocity (Linear Distribution). I think my problem is major problem, but I can't see where. Thanks a lot, for your help and support. |

How many iterations did you set? What are your convergence criteria?
