Dear All,
I am currently completing a CFD course within university and was tasked with the classic 2D airfoil problem that is posted all over the internet. I have to use Fluent and it is my first assignment having never used the software before. I have to complete an analysis for different stream velocities and angles of attack although I have come across a problem. - I noticed the y+ value was in excess of 100 in some of the cases so I utilised the adapt mesh function within Fluent to aim the y+ value between 0 and 1 by placing more nodes around the airfoil surface (or as close as realistically possible) - I chose to use k-omega SST When I plotted Cp along the airfoil surface however I am left with the plot below. The general shape of the plot is correct however the oscillation in the Cp value leaves me slightly bewildered. I was under the impression that increasing the amount of nodes on the mesh would increase the accuracy of the solution, particularly where the boundary layer would separate. Any help, advice or guidance on why this is occurring or how I could solve the problem would be seriously, most appreciated. Best regards, John Watson |
