Kaaji1359 is on a distinguished road
Hi there,

I'm modeling a disc rotation problem where the maximum disc velocity is ~35 m/s. My mesh is Tetrahedral with 4 inflation layers on all surfaces and has been cleaned up so the skewness and aspect ratio are low. I've also tried Polyhedral to the same results.

Using all third-order solution methods (PRESTO! and MUSCL) results in maximum velocities of ~500 m/s and pressures of +/-5000 Pascals in very small areas of my mesh. This is obviously impossible, although these high gradient areas don't affect my solution at all.

After switching to Standard Pressure scheme (MUSCL everything else) the maximum velocities and pressures are normal.

I'm trying to use PRESTO! since it's more accurate, so my questions are:
- Should I still run PRESTO! since it's supposed to be much more accurate than Standard and just ignore the areas of extremely high pressures/velocities since they don't affect my overall solution?
- Or should I run PRESTO! for a few iterations and stop it BEFORE the areas of extremely high pressure/velocity start to show? It takes about 500+ Iterations for them to show, so if I stop it before that...

Thanks for your time.
