Well hope this is not too late.
It depends on how complex and detailed you want the solution to be.

I use eulerian-granular model. After you set up the models (multiphase, laminar/turbulent regime, etc) materials, boundary conditions, solution methods, solution controls, and monitors, go to the solution initialization tab, and click the initialize button.

Go to the mark/adapt cells, and enter the dimensions of the region that you want to patch. For a 2D geometry, for instance, you need to give a Xo and Xmax and Ymin and Ymax. if you don't recall the dimensions of your geometry, just go to General/scale/and take a look at the domain. Once you added the numerical values, click on the "Mark" button. After clicking this button, you will see in the console a message, telling you how many cells were marked.Usually the name is hexahedron-1 (depending on the shape that you select in the mark/adapt cells)

Go back to the solution initialization tab and select the "Patch ..." button. Select the phase-2 in the Variable window. Select volume fraction which will enable the "Value" entry, and add your numerical value. Then, click on the hexadron-1 (or something with a similar name) in the " Register to Patch" window. Click the "Patch" button.

To make sure that your region has been patched, go to graphics/contours/volumefraction/phase-2.

Two years man! No, you aren't too late.
