Simulation 'Unavailable'

I am new to CFD (around 2 months experience) and have been working on a number of simulations and have managed to run the simulations fine and present results using a number of contour plots however when I re-open my simulations (after saving the project in both the set up and main fluent workbench) the 'graphics and animations' section shows the contour plot as 'unavailable.'
This menas that every time I want to view my results I have to re-run the simulation which is very time consuming. Does anyone know how I can successfully save my simulations so that when I re-open them I can view the contour plots etc without having to re-run the calculation. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am working to a strict deadline. Thanks, Mike |

Hi Michael
Have you found the solution to your problem? Same thing happens for me. Thanks |

After some iterations (or with a converged solution) in Fluent within a workbench project, just export the .cas and .dat files (File-->Export-->Cas and Data).
You can open these files with Fluent (I start Fluent directly in windows, not within a project, but both ways should work) later and all your calculated data is still available. You can continue the solution or change parameters etc. I don't really understand the saving/overwriting policy in workbench either, so I use this method and it works for me. (to save some disc space add ".gz" behind ".cas" during the export) |
