Hi everybody,

I would like to run my case in batch mode.
The case is a transient turbulent open flow. I would like the batch orders to be the following:

- Initialize from inlet
- Run 1000 iterations for a 1e-5 s timestep
- Save every 100 iterations
- Run 1000 iterations for a 1e-4 s timestep
- Save every 100 iterations
- Run 1000 iterations for a 1e-3 s timestep

I wonder if I could change under-relaxation factors aswell.
I am so new to batch mode orders so I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks a lot!

You should use a journal to do what you want and specify which journal to use when you start the simulation in the command line (see section 4.2.1 of ANSYS FLUENT Getting Started Guide). Regards.

Hi sorry for the late response, it is because I don't receive the e-mail notifications of the new aswers addes to a post. Mmm, I learned to do a journal, reading a post here in CFDOnline, I dont remember which one is this, but there must be a lot of journal examples in the web, the only thing you should do is to change it according to your needs. Other manual you can reed is the FLUENT's Text Command Line manual, there is a description of all the commands you can use.
Another thing you can do is to start recording a journal (before launching FLUENT, in Workbench File==>Scripting==>Record Journal) and then in FLUENT do all the thing you want to do automatically. Then use this journal to the other runs.

Thank you. I'll record a journal to see how it looks like and will make some search here too.

Btw, I had the same problem. I solved it by adding cfd-online webmaster to my contact list. Hope this helps.

Journal files are a good approach if you are submitting from the command line. Another option, particularly if you're using Workbench, would be automatic case modification, which is described in the User's Guide, chapter 28.18.
