Hello my friends,
I work with Fluent 14 and I want to save lift and drag convergence histories; I have used the monitor option and acted write option too. Therefore, two files have existed but only result of present time is saved in the files and actually, I lost the result of other times steps. Do you have any solution for it? I want to save all lift and drag coefficient in the files according time to plot convergence history. |

Hi!
if u want to plot Cd or Cl per iteration history, i have a solution for u. go to monitors and create Drag. in opened dialog box, active Write and then type .txt in front of the file name. finally go to work directory and from dp0 > FFF > fluent, u can access iteration history in a txt format. Good luck! |

Hello again
I did do as you said but the problem is that only one Cl per last iteration is saved in the generated txt file. All of text in the file is as below: "Lift Convergence" "Flow Time" "Cl" 2.58750e+00 6.19072e-01 but I need Cl per every iteration. May I make any comments for this problem? cheers, Quote:

Hi, I am using fluent v19.1 and saved Cd and Cl data files but when I tried to open, these were not saved as .dat files and are opened only in MS word. I copy them and investigated results. But I want to know why files were not saved in .dat form. Thank you!

They are basic ascii text files always no matter what. If you want the name to end in .dat then specify it has filename.dat when you create the monitor/report. Btw, in my opinion, .dat is not the best extension to use if you want to distinguish between file types because that's the same extension as the fluent .dat file where the solution data is stored. |
