Hello everyone,

I'm trying to simulate a vehicle radiator fin by using porous media. First i simulated the single fin with a cosiderably fine mesh under different reynolds numbers. I curve fitted 2nd order polinomial on to the deltap vs velocity data and i extracted the viscous and inertial coefficients by using darcy-forchhiemmer equation.

After simulating real fin i post process pressure drop across real fin by subtracting average inlet pressure from the fin inlet and outlet. When i simulated same fin simulation by just changing fin domain with porous domain and implementing the viscous and inertial coefficients that have found, pressure drop values doesn't match.

Could anyone please help me? Could you please share your experiences with me? This is very important for me for completing my master's thesis.

Thanks.....

Hi Kadirgg,
Take into account that you have always to manage simulation error, even if the mesh and your model are very accurate.
So I can just suggest to build Darcy-Forchheimer function with experimental data if possible: I fitted the curve (measured pressure drop and flow rate) of a burner some months ago and, when I put the coefficients in Fluent, the porous media was simulated quite well.
Try it!

Sorry for my bad english

Kind Regards
