Hello.
I have a question. suppose, for 3D model, i have a rectangular inlet with dimensions of 8*5. I am defining the boundary like velocity inlet or pressure inlet for this inlet. Now, i want the flow enter to model just from part of this rectangular boundary like the dimensions of 8*3. Is this possible in fluent? If yes, how can i define it? Is the defining of that from Patch in fluent? I read fluent user guide but i didn't understand what the patch is? I am simulating a 3D model in fluent but i have very problems. thanks |

As far as I know, Patching is for setting up some cells, but not all cells. (typically initial guess for multiphase).
From what you explained, you will modify the geometry of a boundary. Maybe you would be quicker, if you go back to your mesher...

If you want your fluid to enter from only a region of the face, then define that region as the inlet and the rest of the face as a wall.
If you want a gradient of velocity across your inlet, you will have to write a profile and define that to your inlet. A patch is used only for volume initialising Regards Luke |

The red face has to have a separate name, different from the rest of the face.
I'm not sure if you can split the face in Fluent Regards Luke |
