Hello,
I am trying to run a compressible simulation on a 8 million point mesh. My mesh quality is good and there are no issues when mesh is checked in FLUENT. It is taking me 8000 second per iteration. I have a 3.6 ghz Xeon 8 core processor with 16 gigs of ram. I am maxing out my resources when running the sim, so is there a recommended amount of ram per million nodes in mesh? I know some other programs require 3GB per million nodes, meaning I would need at least 24GB. Does this sound right? |

I am more looking for developer minimums. I have noticed that about 3-4Gb per million nodes in mesh runs smoothly. I would like to know what ANSYS suggests. I am trying to get something official so my department chair will pay for more RAM...
