Hello,
I use ANSYS/Fluent v.13 to do a 3-D simulation. I can use Parallel (local machine) and my CPU is a i7 2600 3.4 CHz with 16 GB of RAM. when I chose parallel option in Fluent Launcher and set to 4 cores (I guess it is the maximum that I can go with since i7 2600 has 4 cores) then I see that during the simulation the maximum CPU usage does not pass 50%!! does anybody know how to boos the CPU usage to reach to 100% usage? Many thanks |

Don't worry, everything is fine! Your CPU supports something called "hyper threading", where every physical core fakes a second one to optimize cpu usage. Thus, windows thinks you have 8 cores. When you use 4 of them, Windows shows a CPU usage of 50%.

thank you for your rapid response ,
by this, it means that the CPU is actually working 100% not 50%, and yes you are write because I see 8 windows instead of 4 in CPU performance window! |
