Dear all,

I am doing a transient simulation of a room, including the construction materials of the walls in ANSYS FLUENT 14.0. I would like to have the volume averaged temperature of the room for every time step. I looked at the calculation activities however in the "Quantities" list I can only find "Static Temperature" and "Total temperature" and when I choose one of those two options I get a file with the values of every cell in the room.

Although I can easily add the values and divide by the number of cells, is there a way to get only one value (that of the volume averaged temperature) instead?

Thank you very much

Dimitris

I think what you want is under the "Reports" section. If you choose "Volume Integrals" you should see different Report Types like Mass-Average, Minimum, Maximum... for different field variables that you can calculate for specific cell zones. Clicking "Compute" will show the calculation in the terminal window.

Thanks for your answer NormalVector,

I know that after a simulation is over you can check the volume averaged values in "reports". However what I am looking for is a way to obtain the volume averaged values of a cell zone for every time step of a transient simulation, preferably exported in a file.

Ah okay, I guess I missed that in your post, sorry. Have you tried creating a volume monitor? You can export that every time step (I believe) and it looks like you can get what you want, Volume-Averaged Static temperature.

Dear NormalVector,

Thank you very much for your help. Indeed there is an option to write the quantity from the volume monitor to a file, for each time step of the simulation.

Thanks a lot!

Hi all,

How do I calculate/estimate the volume of computational domain, for a given range of temperature or greater than a particular temperature.

I have carried out thermal analysis for a computational domain. I got temperature distribution over the domain which ranges globally, say, 45 to 100 deg C. Now, I want to find out the total volume in the entire domain, which has temperature from 60 to 90 deg C. How do we do this estimation in Fluent. Is it possible in CFD Post?

Thank you so much.
