Hi,
I am trying to run simulation (2D) for 3 bladed NACA 0012 airfoil in vertical motion with respect to central axis using gambit and fluent. I know how to create mesh for single airfoil and run simulation on it, but i don't know how to create mesh for airfoil and to rotate it in fluent. I know that we need to write a UDF for rotating the mesh but i don't know how to write a code for that.I would be glad if anyone could help me out.
Here is a youtube video of what i actually want to do. Please help me out guys, its part of my thesis.

For a simple rotation of the blades with a constant angular velocity you don't need an UDF. Just input the velocity in rigid body dynamic mesh in FLUENT GUI.
But if your motion is flow driven then you can use DEFINE_SDOF_PROPERTIES macro and it's sub-macros.
I think that already saw an answer to your problem in this forum. Try a quick seach. Ah and FLUENT UDF manual too!

Hey,
I have created the mesh file for single airfoil using gambit, i used stationary grid at center and a circular strip which would define the path airfoil would travel while in motion and exterior domain which would be fixed mesh. but i dont know hot to rotate the circular strip region, i would be glad if you could help me with that.

Regards.

hi
i too created 2d - cut section of airfoil for lift and drag calculation.... now i hav to get lift and draf co-efficient for different angle of attack..... how to rotate the airfoil in gambit...
