Hi everybody. I had the exact same problem and here's how I solved it:
Situation: - I am currently using the Fluent package contained in Ansys v12.0 - I am working on a Windows 7 (32 bit) OS - I have installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 - Express Edition" (I've also tried with the Visual C++ 2010 but it seems not to be compatible with Ansys v12.0) Solution: - I've modified my environment variables in this way: 1) Start -> Computer -> Properties -> Advanced Options -> Environment variables -> PATH -> Edit 2) I've then added the following adresses to the existing list: - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\Tools; - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\bin; - C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v120\fluent\ntbin\ntx86; - Then I've created a folder "TEST" where I put my case files AND the .c file containing my udf "udf_test.c" - I've opened my case's workbench and double-clicked on "setup", opening FLUENT - Define -> User-Defined -> Functions -> Compiled - Now on Source Files I've added my source file "udf_test.c" - On "library name" I've kept the default library name "libudf" and clicked on the "Build" button - Now, on the working directory "TEST", FLUENT created a new folder containing the library and called "libudf" - I've then copied the "libudf" directory and pasted it into: mycase_files -> dp0 -> FFF -> Fluent - At last I clicked on the LOAD button in Fluent, and my udf library was successfully loaded in Fluent Hope it will work for you as well. |

In my case,
1. first install SDK 2.0 2. Open SDK 2.0 command prompt, type: Fluent 3. Then go to Define>User Defined> Function> Compiler Remember to put the udf file in the same folder with case files |
