Hi everyone, I'm new on the platform even though I've used it a lot during my master degree studies. I've decided to open this thread because I was not able to find elsewhere the answer I'm looking for; please forgive me if I'm doing wrong, and don't hesitate to link me other existing threads.

Actually, I'm trying to evaluate the effect of the boundary layer ingestion (BLI) with a 2D simulation on Ansys Fluent. Firstly, I want to study the turbulent BL along a flat plate (with length equal to 30 meters), and then I would compare the results with those obtained with a propeller disk located at the end of the plate (see the figure below).

The suction effect of the propeller will be achieve giving a pressure outlet condition, with the pressure value that is calculated using the Actuator Disk Theory. I will face this part of problem later; the main issue I'm having is the assignment of the velocity profile at the inlet. In fact, due to the big length of the plate I've decided to run only the last 12.5 meters, giving an inlet condition that is the equivalent BL that would be there (in term of velocity profile and thickness).

In order to do that, I was trying to build an UDF with two different velocity profile:
  • from y = 0 to y = 0.1525 meters, I set the tvelocity profile (with the 1/7 power law)
  • from y = 0.1525 to y = 7.5 meters, the constant freestream velocity (189.9 m/s)

I've some issue defining the F_CENTROID, because due to the large domain I've used a bias factor to focus on the plate wall zone, and I don't know how to take into account this matter.

Could anyone help me?
I'm glad to everyone will give me some alternative ways.
