Dear all,

I am trying to model a combustion problem with conjugate heat transfer between solid and fluid along with radiation from the solid surface.

Model consists of a simple slot burner on which flame stabilizes due to heat loss and flow non-uniformities. Without radiation, the model is working fine. But when I try to include radiation heat loss from solid surface, apparently there is no option to do so directly even with Define Profile and Wall Heat Flux macros.

Can somebody guide me if I am missing something or do I have to model custom CHT boundary conditions in Fluent that include radiation using UDF. If so, does anyone have experience with it as it would require doing sort of inner iterations per global iteration for finding the right boundary profiles to be prescribed on interfaces between solid and fluid.

Thank you for your help.

Do you want to include radiation loss to the atmosphere, i.e., via the external boundary or do you want radiation loss to the combustion products, i.e., from the coupled wall to the gas?

Hi Vinerm,

I want to model heat loss via radiation to the atmosphere. Any idea?

That is done via boundary condition. There is a mixed boundary condition that you need to use. This allows you to apply external convection as well as radiation heat loss. Other option is to choose only radiation.
