I am trying to write a UDF using DEFINE_DPM_BODY_FORCE to modify the friction force acting on particles in CFD-DEM simulations in Fluent. To do this, I need to include in the UDF the normal contact force acting on the particle. However, I haven't found a way to do this in the guide. Is there a way to include the contact forces acting on a particle in a UDF? Thanks.

Hi, sorry this is a while ago now. Were you ever able to find out how to do this? You're using a DPM, i'm trying to do the same for 6DOF model, but unsure what the correct approach is. Did you have any success?

Cheers

Hi, no worries! I will have to disappoint you, I did not find a way to do this and in the end decided it was easier for me to try another program (MFIX). But I remember searching through a lot of different resources back then and consistently not finding anything, so perhaps it's just not possible. Good luck with your model!

OK, thanks anyway. I will look around and think for a while longer before probably giving up and trying a different software!
