Evaporation of water bridge : Which Model Should I Use ?

Hello,
I'm working on a simulation where I aim to model the evaporation of a liquid bridge between two solid plates at ambient temperature at humid air. My goal is to track the evolving shape of the liquid interface over time as well as simulate the evaporation focusing on diffusion. 1- I am considering whether to use the mixture model or the Volume of Fluid (VOF) model ? Between the mixture model and the VOF model, which is more suitable for simulating both the evaporation process by diffusion and the interface shape ? My confusion arises from the fact that very few studies in the existing literature seem to use the VOF model. how is that since it doesn't support multi-component phases ( the first phase is liquid water and the second is a mixture of water vapor and air). 2- Should i use the species transport equation into my simulation or not ? what is the equation for the diffusion ? Any small guidance would be immensely helpful. Thank you! |
