Multiphase convergence

Hi all,
So, I am trying to do a multiphase simulation, more specifically, a bubble column that includes the PBE. The problem is solved transiently, however, I am only interested in the 'steady-state' solution. I am able to get the thing to converge. But compared with experimental data and CFD studies that solved the same setup the results are not quite right. I have been looking for tips and tricks/strategies to get the multiphase simulations to converge correctly. But I haven't found much, except a little in the Fluent users guide. What I'm doing right now is to first compute an initial solution with 1st order schemes and without the PBE, then I continue the solution with higher order schemes for some time, and last, add the PBE. I was wondering if this is an okay approach? Does adding in the higher order schemes actually "refine" the solution. Or should I maybe try to start the simulation with higher order schemes instead? Is it okay to add the PBE in later? Also, any general tips or literature on how to get multiphase solutions to converge to the correct solution would be much appreciated! |
