I am modeling Laser melting of a solid block using solidification/melting and VOF. I am using Explicit VOF to track the interface between the inert gas domain and the metal. Following are my parameters:
Courant Number(Explicit VOF) = 0.8
Global Courant Number = 0.8
Adaptive time stepping with initial time step size = 1e-7 s
Compressive scheme for VOF discretisation.
Mesh cell size = 1e-5 m with all hexahedral cells

My solution starts and shows very good convergence initially. After around 22 %, it shows "floating point exception" and stops although convergence criteria is still satisfied.
Can someone please help in this matter?

There are many factors which could give this error "Floating point exception" incorrect property, physics to name a few. I would recommend you to go through this. https://www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Ansy...do_about_it.3F
