Hi
I am working on a simulation (Fluent 19.2) on the impact of a droplet on a flat wall. I firstly made a 2D simulation in the planar case, then a 2D simulation in axisymmetric case, both using first a size mesh of 80 CPD (cell per diameter) and the 100 CPD (the papers reviewed say that it should be a good enough refinement). The droplet dimension is 2.5 mm and impact velocity is 0.23 m/s. The domain is about 3 4 droplet diameters, and the initial height of the droplet from the wall is 1 diameter. In bot of cases I used the same bc (except for the axis bc) and setup. In the first case I do not obtain a good enough result, the shape of the droplet is different from experimental values of the paper in analysis, but still “acceptable” and there is mesh independence. In the axisymmetric case, the droplet rebounds after a 10 ms in the 100 CPD case when should lay on the wall, when in 80 CPD case I have a drastic reduction and the beginning of a rebound. The axisymmetric case should improve the simulation, but instead seems to give me something totally wrong. Does anyone know what can be the origin of the problem? Thank you all in advance |
