Hello everyone,
Currently, I am working on a project related to the numerical estimation of erosion in a centrifugal dredge pump. Since the volume fraction of the sand in this problem is between 0.01 and 0.1, I intended to use a four-way coupled (fluid-solid, solid-fluid, particle-wall, particle-particle) Eulerian-Lagrangian model as implemented in ANSYS Fluent (DPM model). For the collisions I want to use the DEM collision model, more specifically the linear spring-dashpot model with friction. For this model, a number of parameters have to be specified, including the coefficient of restitution, the friction coefficients (mu_stick, mu_glide and mu_limit) and characteristic velocities (v_glide, v_limit and slope_limit). Since there is no description in Fluent’s theory or user’s guide how to determine these parameters, I was wondering if anyone knows how to find the values for these parameters? Thanks in advance, Wim |

you can search for them in the relevant literature
but in my case I had to select most of these parameters empirically based on physical experiments |

Hey sfn,
Thanks for your reply! On what kind of experiments did you base the values of these parameters? Kind regards, Wim |
