Hi,
I am planning to perform transient multiphase flow simulation inside a vertical pipe (water + Nitrogen) where the length to diameter ratio is around 10^4 (5000 ft long with a 0.5 ft diameter). While I found work been done with geometry of 10^2, some papers suggested 10^4 is too high and may cause divergence. I would like to ask the forum if you can shed some light on this i.e., why the solution may diverge, any trick you would like to suggest to successfully perform the simulation. Also, if you are aware of any such publication please let me know. In terms of resources, I will hopefully have high performance computational facility. So in terms of computational time, that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks. |
