Hello Everyone,
I have a model with Multiple inlets and Outlets. I wanted to plot the Mass Distribution of Outlets in Histogram. But when I was loading the file in the Trajectory Sample Histograms. It was showing some error like "Reading sample file... Read_Sample_Section: error reading history header from the file, giving up." I also want to tell you that by default it was asking for .dpm format. But, I have the .out format. I hope this is not a problem. Please help or suggest any answer. Thank you Raj |

The option that you are using is meant for DPM only. There is histogram option under Plots that you can use for histogram of Eulerian fields.

So, you mean we cannot use the histogram plot for VOF models?
As I have mentioned, I have multiple outlets. I want to check and compare the mass flow of individual outlets and plot on the histogram. But, the problem is I have a single named selection for all the outlets. I hope I made some point. Please let me know if I could provide any other info for helping me. Thank you |

You can but not the one you are using. There is another histogram within Plots.

Yeah, I have tried it, but I couldn't find the Mass flow option.
Moreover, if I choose, it provides the parameter on one abscissa and another one with no. of outlets. I need a flow a mass flow vs each outlet. It does not matter, even if it is not the histogram. I just want to know what is the mass flow for each outlet individually. Thank you once again for fast response. |

Histogram can be used only for field variables or CFFs (may be also for expressions) and plot the distribution over mesh faces on a particular boundary. What you appear to be interested in is integral flow though multiple boundaries. For this, you have to plot histogram outside. You can report values under Fluxes as well as under Surface Integrals.

Yeah, I have tried and looked it into Console. But, I am getting the result for overall outlets. (You can see in the Net Value).
I need value for all outlets separately. (I have used a single named selection for all the outlets). Can you tell me, by using the "Per Surface" option? Can I get, what I am expecting? Thank you Raj |

That's because you have defined all outlets under one name. All you need to do is separate the outlet. Go to Domain > Zones > Separate > Faces. Select Region and then select the outlet. Click on Separate. It will separate all the outlets into multiple. Then you can report the mass flow rate for all of those.

Hello Vinerm,
Thank you, the outlets are separated. In Fluent, can we plot them by comparing each other outlets in a histogram or other graphs with their outlet names on coordinates or axes? |

Histogram in Fluent is meant for field variation not variation across boundaries. You have to do that externally.
