Hi everyone,

I need to simulate a solar still desalination system using a CFD software which is ANSYS 17.1 - fluent - VOF model

the procedure is as following;

A- Water in the tank evaporates due to solar radiation.

B- Water vapour condenses on the cover due to the temperature difference.

C- Water condensation gets collected into a discharge channel due to gravity (THIS IS THE SYSTEM PRODUCTIVITY WHICH I NEED TO KNOW?)

However, I didn't get any condensation even after many tries.

My questions are;

1- What is the correct number of phases 2 (water and vapour) or 3 (water, vapour, and air)?

2- What is the primary phase?

3- What is the suitable Solar model?

4- What is the suitable viscous model?

5- Should (water surface tension and wall adhesion) be enabled or not?

6- Is Eulerian wall film necessary in this case? and How to initialize Eulerian wall film?

7- What is the suitable pressure-velocity coupling method?

8- What is the suitable solution initialization method?

Please advise.

Kind regards,

Ahmed Alkaisi
