Hello,

My name is Adrian and I am attempting to simulate thin film condensation on a vertical plate in a laminar flow.

I am determining laminar flow by limiting my characteristic length to .1m and my input flow velocity to .01m/s. The Boundary condition for the cold side (heat sink) is set @ 100K, and opposite that I have an adiabatic wall. My velocity inlet is 100% steam @ 373.15K, and I have a pressure outlet as my opposing Boundary Condition.

I am using Mixture model and am using Evaporation-Condensation model (Tsat=373.15K) for mass transfer, as well as surface tension to allow adhesion of condensate bubbles on the cold surface.

I've attached a picture showing my results, and was curious if anyone had experience simulating this simple problem, and if so how by how many degrees I am off (figuratively).

I appreciate the effort, as I have toiled for some time with this issue myself.

~Thanks

Hello Adrian,

I am also working on condensation, however in a vertical tube and it is turbulent. I am using VOF model and Lee model (the evaporation-condensation model). My simulation keeps on diverging. I have tried all possible URFs. Checked my mesh. Still, it diverges. Do you have an idea why it does that? Any help/advice from you will be greatly appreciated. Stuck on that for a while.
Thanks
