Hi,

I'm doing my bachelor project and need to validate my results by simulate the temperature drop across the -heat pipe.

I read a lot about this simulation and end up that i need UDF to simulate the condenser and the evaporator section in a right way.
I don't have have experience in fluent to manage it, and many previous udfs have problem in condensation section.

Could anyone help me with tutorials, idea or solution of this problem?
Please, finds attached the simple heat pipe working principle.

Regards,
A.k

I succeeded in simulation of a 2d heat pipe using fluent 17 VOF multiphase model with hooking UDF with the case.

The UDF didn't work on Ansys 16 due to some bug in the program, so you should use ANSYS 15 or 17 instead.

If someone need help in the simulation, write your email and i will send some good resources.

hi everyone, i'm currently doing my bachelor's thesis on this subject as well. for some reason, my set up always diverges. would anyone be kind to share their case and batch files so i could compare the parameters which i may have set wrongly?

thanks in advance!

Find attached the UDF i used for my simulation on Ansys 15 and ansys 17 because, ansys 16 doesnot work with me. It has a bug regarding this UDF.

It takes some time and many trials for simulating the HP. My advice is to start with 2D simple case and then introduce complexity with time. You will need to simulate the boiling tutorial to get some experience about this kind of simulations.

For simulating the condensation, you will need to generate fine wall layers for catching the condensation droplets.

For simulating the Heat pipe you can use these useful tutorials:

1-https://www.researchgate.net/profile...g+Tutorial.pdf

2-https://youtu.be/hPeGvczYHMM

3- https://youtu.be/LQ2y0sIXgio

4 -article: CFD modeling of flow and heat transfer in a thermosyphon

5 -article-2:Three-dimensional CFD simulation of geyser
boiling in a two-phase closed thermosyphon - Hussam Jouhara a,c,*, Bandar Fadhl b,c, Luiz C. Wrobel

If anyone have a question please, write it here so every one can see it and i will reply.

Thanks and good luck

Please someone upload the mesh file for the heat pipe (2D). I am not able to separate the water and vapor regions and also condenser adibatic and evaporator region.

hello!
i am doing a simulation of a solar still.it needs an evaporation-condensation phase change model.
my question is in Ansys 18.2 it included evaporation condensation phase change model.is it necessary to use your udf with lee model?
