Best model to investigate fouling

Dear all,
- Can anyone tell me what is the best model to investigate fouling in heat exchangers. I am just running a simple 2D rectangular geometry to understand how different model works then later apply it to a whole heat exchanger system. I will be introducing ash solid particle inside the fluid flow for this investigation. - What is the difference between DDPM (Eulerian multiphase model) & DEM collision VS DPM DEM collision. I wonder if using any of the mentioned models would visualise and calculate the fouling layer thickness for different inlet flow rates. Many thanks, Hassan Last edited by mroue; January 20, 2016 at 09:55. |

Hello!
I am working on modeling of fouling in heat exchangers, I use DPM model, but I face a problem, when I activate the thermophoretic model to take in consideration the effect of thermophoresis forces on particle trajectories, fluent generate an error "Error: received a fatal signal (Segmentation fault). Error Object: #f", I am searching for the sources of this problem and I found that it is in relation with UDF but I am not using any UDF in my simulation!! Could you please help me and telling me how you modeled the fouling in your simulation? best regards. |
