This is Raj K Saini, I have an issue in fluent to solve my problem of Drop dynamics.

Problem is that I have a my computational domain, in domain I want to patch many drops. I want to patch many drops in the domain which will give to me volume fraction more than 2% (i.e. continuous phase :water, dispersed phase :drop (toluene)). Problem here is that I am not able to do more than 15 patches in the domain. If I patched 15 drops which gives to me only 0.5% volume fraction. So I need more than 15 patches of drops. if I exceed 15 patches of drop fluent giving Error to me.


Can anybody tell how to fixed this problem?

Hello Fellow CFD Users,

I am simulating drop dynamics in a cylinder. My computational domain (3D) is a cylinder (Diameter=50mm, height=50 mm). I have simulated my case with VOF model in ANSYS Fluent V14.5. The two phases are continuous phase and dispersed phase (droplets).

Initially, I have patched many drops ( 108 drop with dia. of each 2.5mm).

Now after some time t, I want to know how many drops or patches present in the domain. The second I need to find volume of each drop.

If anybody have worked for such a problem I would like to know about the procedure for the same.
