I have a container with a suspension flow through it. I am simulating the precipitation of dense phase particles on the surfaces of container. I used the discrete phase model ( transient)for this simulation. I put a trap boundary conditions for some surfaces where I want to measure the thickness of the precipitate. I obtained only film thickness in mass/time units. I would like to know the method of integration this concentration over time to know the final film thickness after a certain period of time.
thank you

Hey, If you turn on the accretion/errosion option you can get accretion rate in mass/time/area of your trap surface. By using the density you can convert this measurement into thickness per time

Hello Sir, I need the total thickness which could be obtained by multiplying the thickness/time by total time. The problem is I can't pick the total time (or even iterations)and put it as a variable in the user defined function.
Time is not available as an optional variable in Discrete phase variables.

When the accretion option is enabled every time an injection is released it will accumulate on top of the previous injection. So as soon as you turn on the accretion option your thickness will be increased at every dpm iteration. you wont need to multiply by total time since you can just release the equivalent amount of injections that is representative of the time you want to measure. Try it out by turning on accretion releasing one injection checking the thickness releasing another checking the thickness again etc.

Hello edoan,
Thank you for your reply.
I already checked the Erosion/accretion option (under the physical models). By doing that I got concentration or thickness per time (gram/sec or micron/sec). How can get total microns accumulated. Can you explain more please.
Thank you very much for your time.
