Hello, everyone, What about the state-of-the-art of the research on the riprap stability around the bridge piers? From the published papers, I found it has a long way to go to be perfect... The stability mechanics is not very clear, although there are some experimental results to show the type of riprap failure. So what's the research trend in the world? Theoretical analysis or numerical simulation or flume experiment? How to solve this problem in a proper way?

Is there any good example of numerical simulation for the riprap stability? From my point of view, it should be based on the theory development. theory? how to use and build?
